Thiourea, also known as Thiocarbamide, Isothiourea, and 2-Thiourea, has the chemical formula
CH4N2S or H2NCSNH2. It appears as white or off-white lustrous crystals or powder with no odor
and a bitter taste. It is soluble in Water and Alcohol at ambient conditions. Thiourea is the simplest
member of the Thiourea class, consisting of Urea whose Oxygen atom is substituted by Sulfur.
When heated to decomposition, it emits toxic fumes of Nitrogen Oxides and Sulfur Oxides.
Chemically pure or Laboratory reagents are the two terms often used to describe Lab Grade
