Calcium Fluoride is also known as Acid-spar, Irtran 3, Fluorspar, Liparite, and Met-spar. It appears as white odorless powder and is hygroscopic at ambient conditions. It is insoluble in water but is soluble in ammonium salt solutions. It can undergo thermal decomposition to produce hazardous compounds like hydrogen fluoride. Chemically Pure or Laboratory Reagents are terms used to describe lab grade chemicals. Despite their acceptable purity, they do not meet any accepted quality or purity criteria like the ACS Grade, the USP Grade, and the FCC Grade.
